Space Race: The Story of Space Exploration to the Moon and Beyond with FREE App by Ben Hubbard

Raise your hand if you home school your kids or if your kids are distant learning? It may be most of us since the pandemic began. I feel it is important to stock our home libraries with educational books. If you don't have a library, create a small space with a bookshelf. I recently created the Reynolds Library in our home which is a separate area to read good books. Today, I'm here to share a new book called, Space Race by Ben Hubbard.

About:

This book explores and celebrates the incredible technology and trailblazing scientists that took humans to the stars. This comprehensive and richly illustrated guide tells the awe-inspiring story of space exploration, from the race for rockets and putting a man on the moon, to the International Space Station, life on Mars, finding a habitable planet, and life beyond our solar system. Download the FREE interactive app to watch NASA videos on the page and explore 360-degree models of groundbreaking spacecraft in high definition.

In my opinion:

We loved Space Race! It was educational and I love educational books especially for my kids. As we head into the future, we may not go back to school so it is important to have nonfiction books to teach our children. Space Race was the perfect book for us to learn about the space journey. We enjoyed learning about the race between the US and the USSR. I didn't realize there was actually a competition between the two most powerful countries. Why is there always a competition? I guess it makes life fun and interesting.

This book documented the intelligence of many individuals. It also taught us the failures and successes of missions, spacecrafts, rockets, etc. Without failure there isn't success. So, we must continue to try even if we fail a million times.

This book was compiled into six chapters including The Race for Rockets, Humans in Space, The Moon in View, Space Stations and Shuttles, Probing the Planets and Into the Future. Each chapter had engaging photos and tons of information and facts. My favorite part was learning about how astronauts lived in space.  They needed training on how to eat, wash and go to the toilet in space. There was a lot of information that I didn't know so this was a wonderful tool to teach myself and my kids about the journey into space. I definitely recommend Space Race.
