Here’s a heart-warming ode to friendship, compassion, and kindness told in rhyming verse and accompanied by charming and colorful illustrations. The message is clear—friends come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors. Some may look and dress differently than you, speak another language at home, may use a wheelchair to get around, or simply be shy. It just doesn’t matter—making a new friend is AWESOME!
Children will love this story about the joys of bonding, sharing, playing, and working together. And parents and other adults will appreciate a message that builds character and fosters empathic skills in children. (Ages 4–7)
In Emilee's opinion:
I enjoyed reading Together We Can by Caryl Hart.
I love books that encourage us to be better.
I also loved the illustrations! Each page was colorful and fun. There were a lot of kids on each page and although we are different, we can be friends with anyone. "A friend is a buddy, a pal, or a mate, a person who's special, who makes you feel great." That is so true. We all need friends and this adorable rhyming book made it clear that no matter what... making a new friend is awesome. I loved that there were illustrations of children in wheelchairs (my daughter is in a wheelchair), of children speaking a different language and of children from all over the world. As we are loving and kind we can have friends forever with those around us. We need each other. I also loved the messages of building character and practicing empathy. Well done.
