Sanctuary by Traci Hunter Abramson

About:

Kristi Hartinger has come to terms with her life as a single, thirty-something woman. She was in love . . . once. But following her boyfriend's tragic death, no one else could capture her heart. And nothing else could fill that void, though the serenity of the ocean came close. Two years ago, Kristi left the craziness of her Wall Street career behind and embraced a simpler life on her family's private island off the coast of Main. As a resident of the small beach community, she anticipates a quiet future—until she comes face-to-face with her past.

Ace Samson is dead, or so the world believes. As a member of a secret organization known as the guardians, he was forced to fake his death years ago, leaving everything behind when he became an agent. So when he is selected to offer a potential new recruit a job with the organization, Ace braces himself: for the first time in more than a decade, he must face the woman he loved&mash;and left.

Kristi's world is rocked by Ace's sudden reappearance, and she's soon drawn into his world of danger and cover-up. But when Kristi herself becomes a target, Ace will do whatever it takes to protect the only woman he has ever loved.

About the author:

Originally from Arizona, TRACI HUNTER ABRAMSON spent much of her childhood exploring the little town of Pinewood. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University and a former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency. Since leaving the CIA, Traci has written multiple novels, including the Undercurrents trilogy, Royal Target, and the Saint Squad series. When she's not writing, Traci enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children. She also enjoys cooking, although she prefers an electric stove to the wood-burning variety.

In Emilee's opinion:

I really enjoyed reading Sanctuary, A Guardian novel and this was the third novel that I've read by Traci Hunter Abramson. For your information, the author has four different series and a few stand alone novels. Although, I don't think you need to read each one in the series to understand the characters. Overall, I've been impressed with Abramson's writing and felt that she had a lot of experience working with undercover duties like the CIA. She definitely has a gift.

Sanctuary was a page turner and there was a lot happening on every page. I loved that it started with the main character, Kristi who lived a simple life in Maine. Yes, she was a bit older and not married but she held onto the love she had for her boyfriend, Ace who died in a tragic accident or so she thought. Then, Ace reappears in her life and someone wants her dead. The romance and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and I pretty much ignored my children so I could get to the next chapter. Sanctuary moved quickly so it was easy to read through without getting bored. There was a ton of action in this book so I definitely recommend picking it up and reading it.
