MASTERPIECE: VICTORIA SEASON 1
Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) stars as the young Queen Victoria at the outset of her epic reign, which set the stage for an entire era that would be named in her honor. Scripted by bestselling novelist Daisy Goodwin (The Fortune Hunter) the series follows Victoria from her accession to the throne at age 18, through her education in politics, courtship and marriage, “VICTORIA” paints a portrait of a monarch who was raised to be the pawn of her powerful elders but who wasted no time in showing the empire who was in charge.
“VICTORIA” is currently available on DVD and Blu-ray. The run time of the program is approximately 480 minutes on 3 discs. The DVD SRP is $49.99 and the Blu-ray SRP is $59.99.
In Emilee's opinion:
I recently started watching Victoria Season One and I'm addicted. PBS has well done masterpieces so I was excited for the opportunity to review another wonderful program. I loved the music...Hallelujah....Gloriana. My favorite characters were Lord Melborne and Victoria. I actually searched online to find out if they got married and unfortunately she married Prince Albert. Of course, if you think about it Lord Melborne played by Rufus Sewell (The Holiday) is way older than Victoria. He played a wonderful father figure and mentor. But, in the DVD, it felt that he had serious feelings for her and it was sad to watch because I wanted them to end up together. However, Prince Albert is growing on me (I'm about half way through the DVD) and I'm sure they had a wonderful life together as husband and wife even if it was a fixed marriage. From the Wikipedia, "The first series depicted the first few years of Queen Victoria played by Jenna Coleman, from her accession to the throne at the age of eighteen, to her intense friendship and infatuation with Lord Melbourne, to her courtship and early marriage to Prince Albert (played by Tom Hughes) and finally to the birth of their first child, Victoria." I'm looking forward to season two when we see "Victoria's struggles on managing her role as Queen with that of her duties to her husband and children." I'm definitely hooked and recommend it to anyone who loved Downton Abbey or Mr. Selfridge.
MASTERPIECE: TO WALK INVISBLE: THE BRONTE SISTERS
This drama traces the lives of the beloved novelist sisters, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte. The program is beautifully filmed and acted, and explores when the sisters revealed to the world that they were not the notorious Bell brothers of their pseudonyms, but quaint country-women who went on to write some of the best English literature.
“TO WALK INVISIBLE” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray April 11, 2017. The run time of the program is approximately 120 minutes on 1 disc. The DVD SRP is $29.99 and the Blu-ray SRP is $34.99.
In Emilee's opinion:
I absolutely loved To Walk Invisible. At first, I had no idea what I was watching but it became clear when I learned that the sisters are well know authors. The beginning was a little strange. It definitely was a serious film because it depicted a troubled family with real life challenges. But, of course I cried at the end because I knew that they left their mark on society. It was marvelous indeed!!! My favorite part was when Charlotte stood up to Mr. George Smith. After he asked, "You are Currer Bell?" She said, "What makes you doubt it? My accent, my gender, my size?" Then he realized she wasn't lying and apologized and introduced her to Smith Williams who was a huge fan. That part made me smile and I was proud of Charlotte. Each sibling was intelligent and had an amazing imagination. Anne's poems were competent and charming. I obviously loved Charlotte's character. She was determined and wanted to clear up any misunderstandings. I also loved the father. He must have been so proud of the three sisters. He was a little harder on his son, Branwell but I could see why. He said, "Sometimes a man must sink to the bottom before he can turn his life around." He was speaking of Branwell who made a lot of mistakes. At least Emily had a close relationship with him. I didn't care for Branwell. There were three F words which Branwell spoke and a part that wasn't necessary to have in the movie. But, other than that, I loved it. I definitely recommend To Walk Invisible to everyone.

Mother's day ideas from Life is what it's Called by Sandra Meaders...
Coming up with ideas for a present for mom's can be tough. Every mom is different and may have different likes and dislikes. Here are a couple ideas for you on what to get mom for mother's day:
Gift Cards are the perfect present for when you're not sure what your mom would like as a present. Gift cards are often fun to redeem and easy-to-use.
Flowers are fun to receive, smell great and brighten any room.
For moms who like to read, books are always fun to get. For the past several years, I've gotten my mom and mother-in-law one of Sarah Eden's books and they love it. Some other authors that I would recommend (especially for moms who like Regency reads aka Jane Austin style):
Some moms might appreciate a fun treat like chocolate, ice cream, cookies, a smoothie, fruit salad, milk shake, etc.
One of my favorite things to get for Mother's Day is a homemade card or craft from my kids. I am sure most moms appreciate something that their kids made.
What are some of your ideas?
Weren't those cute ideas from Sandra? Thanks for sharing on our blog, Sweetly Made (Just for you).
