Lately, I've been on the lookout for good children's books. I have three children and I love to read to them when time allows it. It is a little sad that when I only had one child, we would read all the time. We visited the library at least once a week. Now, it is extremely difficult to find the time to go out. I have a newborn...well a two month old who needs milk every 2 1/2-3 hours. I also have a two year old who has a G-tube so I hook her up with formula every three hours.
So, it is a wonderful opportunity when I can review brand new books just for my kids.
This week, I reviewed
Twisters Numbers & Shapes
Twisters Numbers
About:
Come on baby…let’s learn and twist! Little ones will love learning their numbers with this fun board book that’s perfectly sized for pint-sized hands. Each page has a twisty picture to turn and match. They’ll love counting their numbers from 1 to 10 twisting the page to find out: How many spots on the lady bug? How many splashes on the piggy? Bright, colorful illustrations, lots of new things to learn, and bendy pictures make this book an all-time favorite. (Ages Infant–3) (0764168096)

In my opinion:
Twisters Numbers is a book for kids to match and learn their numbers 1 to 10. It will be perfect for my youngest when she is old enough. I read it to my two year old who has special needs and helped her turn each animal. I loved how the animals spun around. This book was very basic and probably wouldn't be good for a five year old. Or at least not mine. He is at that stage where he is curious about everything and wants everything destroyed or in utter chaos. I'm pretty sure he would try and take the animals out and then the book would be ruined. However, maybe my five year old could start reading the words to his sisters. The words were fairly easy especially for beginner readers like my son. The book is a fun way for kids to learn how to count and that is the main idea. Overall, I thought it was made well.
Twisters Shapes
About:
Come on baby…let’s learn and twist! Little ones will love learning their shapes with this fun board book that’s perfectly sized for pint-sized hands. Each page has a twisty picture to turn and match. Tiny tots can match up the diamonds on the dinosaur’s back, circles on the little boy’s glasses, and more. Bright, colorful illustrations, lots of new things to learn, and bendy pictures make these books all-time favorites that they’ll want to come back to over and over again. (Ages Infant–3) (076416810)

In my opinion:
Twisters Shapes was another fun book to read to my children. This time the focus was on shapes. It was the same concept as the Twisters Numbers book. You match up the shapes with the correct picture. I thought it could have had more pages including a heart, octagon, hexagon, etc. But, it included the basic shapes that a young child should learn. It would also be helpful to have different textures on each page. But, maybe I'm over my head with crazy ideas. Overall, I enjoyed reading it to my kids and recommend it to other readers.
