Today, I wanted to share a remarkable book by Sheri Dew called,
Amazed by Grace
About:
What is grace? What difference can grace make in our lives? How does the Savior make His power available to us? And what must we do to gain access to that power?
In Amazed by Grace, Sheri Dew discusses each of those important questions, exploring a topic that she describes as being central to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. "The most compelling, most life-changing message of all time," she writes, "is that Jesus Christ has already triumphed over sin, death, hell, temptation, and every kind of misery."
As we come to more fully understand the majestic doctrine of grace, our faith will increase. We will see how the Savior keeps His promise to make weak things strong. And we will believe the truth that "His Atonement makes available all of the power, peace, light, and strength that we need to deal with life's challenges."
About the author:
Sheri Dew is a native of Ulysses, Kansas, and a graduate of Brigham Young University. She has authored several books, including the biographies of two presidents of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley and Ezra Taft Benson. Her most recent books are God Wants a Powerful People and Saying It Like It Is. Sheri was named the president and CEO of Deseret Book Company in March 2002. She also serves as a member of both the BYU Marriott School of Management’s National Advisory Council and the President’s Leadership Council for BYU-Hawaii. In March 2003 the White House appointed her as a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls at the United Nations.
In my opinion:
Sheri Dew always impresses me with her outstanding achievements especially of one being an author. I loved Amazed by Grace! It was a short book that can be read in a few hours and is well written. I loved her personal stories. Sometimes it is nice to read about other people's struggles especially when dealing with day to day challenges.
There were a few quotes that stood out to me.
"He rarely moves the mountains in front of us, but He always helps us climb them." Wow! That was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes during trials, we want our trials to be taken away ASAP. However, Heavenly Father doesn't take them away, he helps us to get through them.
"True disciples are armed with righteousness, meaning with both deliverance and diving protection, and with the power of God in great glory. This means that, as disciples, imperfect though we still are, we can ask for more energy, more revelation, more patience, more self-discipline, more hope, more love, more healing, more happiness. We can ask for miracles, for freedom from pain, and for the desire to forgive. We can ask for more faith and for help in becoming better disciples."
One will find strength in Sheri Dew's book titled Amazed by Grace. It was inspiring and helpful. I definitely recommend Amazed by Grace to everyone especially those who are struggling.
Disclaimer: I received one or more of the products or services for free in the hope that I would mention them on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
