Sweetly simple, appetizingly fun!   In Emilee's opinion:   I loved everything about this book and not because it had 40 fun creations that were easy enough for kids.  The reason was because the layout of the book was perfect. I do judge a book by its cover and Besel had an eye for creating delicious desserts. The photos were superb. It either took hours to shoot the perfect picture or this was another Martha Stewart. Even the table of contents caught my eye. There were five parts to the book. They included mouthwatering desserts-made by you, baking bliss, sweet tooth, sugarcoat it and tips, tricks and recipes. This book was so organized, it made me giddy (I love being organized, it is a quality I received from my mother). The page of tools was even impressive!!! I've always wanted to bake a checkerboard cake. So pretty! Oh, how I loved each page of Custom Confections. The hidden present cookies looked fun to make and what a surprise it would be for your guests.   I made my first cake pops recently and they turned out pretty well. I would be happy to create the mini apple cakes or the farm friends cake pops. They looked fun with easy to follow instructions. Another favorite recipe was the ice cream cone cupcakes and the monster brownies made me smile.    Overall, I was highly impressed with Jen Besel's Custom Confections. I definitely recommend this book. I'm pretty sure you don't have to be perfect to create these fun desserts but if you are, it will come natural to you.
